Renewing Cities

Eric Doden is a gamechanger for Indiana’s Main Streets. As President of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, Eric architected the Regional Cities Initiative that has been credited with spurring $1.6 billion in economic activity. More recently, he spearheaded redevelopment of the former General Electric plant in Fort Wayne, the state’s largest adaptive reuse project. Now, Eric is serving as director of the Renewing Cities initiative at Sagamore Institute that is working to unlock $800M in tax credits and $200M in private and philanthropic capital to revitalize downtowns in 30 Indiana cities. Eric plans to bring this model to every corner of the state.

This is one of the most important questions facing state and local leaders as many of their neighbors are beginning to think that American Dream is fading. Eric Doden’s Main Street redevelopment strategy was piloted in Van Wert, Ohio to prove that revitalization was possible.
